We want to make you aware of a change to the Cable ONE line-up. As you know, we carry duplicate feeds of NBC, ABC and FOX programming. Effective January 1st, 2009, we will no longer carry the following stations: WBRZ - ABC (channel 2), KARD - FOX (channel 3) and KALB - NBC (channel 5). We will continue to carry WLBT - NBC (channel 6), KAQY- ABC (channel 11) and WNTZ- FOX (channel 13) and so customers will still be able to see all major broadcast primetime programming. The change will affect Cable ONE customers in the Vidalia area. The NBC, ABC and the FOX channels are duplicates stations.
There are a couple reasons for these changes; the most important is signal strength. These stations have always been difficult to receive and had poorer picture quality. That’s because they are transmitted a good distance from the Vidalia area. As you are aware, broadcasters are required by law to convert their channels to digital by February 17th, 2009. With digital signals there is no room for a marginal signal. If there is any problem with the digital signal the picture will go dark. Unfortunately, after the transition, it will be nearly impossible for us to reliably receive these channels.
A benefit of this channel change is the expansion our high-definition programming line-up in 2009. On January 19th, we will be adding Animal Planet HD. Shortly after, we will be adding your FOX regional sports network in high-definition. Both these networks have been highly requested by customers.
If you have questions, please use the Contact Us form and we will respond as quickly as possible.
Sincerely,
Cable ONE
